WeGrow – Elementary School for Entrepreneurs
Teaching kids as young as five-years-old about entrepreneurship is silly, right? Wrong! WeWork has plans to launch an elementary school inside their New York City office that will promote conscious entrepreneurship. The pilot program of seven students, including one of the cofounders’ kids, is underway now, but they plan to open it to the public sometime next fall. The program will serve as a more hands-on method of teaching everyday subjects, like math and reading, while also providing unique lessons on entrepreneurship from a 60-acre farm that they will be visiting once a week. And if you don’t think this kind of education is a good idea, you’ve probably never sat in a classroom for eight hours learning about fractions.
Flatiron School – The Acquisition
Kids don’t get to enjoy all the educational fun at WeWork though. Thanks to the recent acquisition of the New York-based coding bootcamp Flatiron School, the coworking company is now able to offer world-leading coding education to employees and members alike. WeWork is not just utilizing the Flatiron School space. They plan to integrate their educational model into their own and provide classes in their 170 coworking spaces around the world. Which, suffice it to say, further establishes this coworking company as so much more.
